Teachers will tell you that the most challenging part of teaching
science is to instill knowledge since passion is not always enough.
A practical understanding of science is an essential factor in the
assimilation of knowledge.
At Merck Frosst, researchers come from all over the world and from a
dozen different scientific backgrounds. The challenge of communicating
knowledge is something all of them understand. That is why Merck Frosst,
in collaboration with the l'Association des professeurs de sciences
du Québec (the Quebec Association of Science Teachers) and the
Réseau du Conseil de développement du loisir scientifique and its nine regional offices, give out an annual award to a teacher
or a technician who encourages his or her students to get involved in
recreational science activities. This prize consists of a $2,000 grant.
